A Community Statement

Assalāmu 'Alaikum

Following social media posts that have gained currency over the past 24 hours, that there would be raids on masājid during Jumuah today, in the light of the question of irregular migration, the Jamiatul Ulama South Africa sought to engage relevant authorities.

According to the authorities, there has not been any such specific instruction given to law enforcement agencies, to single out places of worship in general, and masājid, in particular.

In the event of any such incident occurring at a masjid, responsible masjid representatives and members of the community are hereby kindly being advised to contact the Jamiatul Ulama South Africa offices on tel: 011 373 8000, or via WhatsApp: 061 373 8000, or email: info@jamiatsa.org.

May Allah guide and protect one and all. Āmīn.

Wassalām.
